No. 17

Okay. So, my hard drive needed to be formated, which meant I lost my U2-playlist that I had been preparing... And then it took some time before I got the time and energy to restore it. But anyway, now I'm back and ready to start the list! And just so you know, it's very hard to pick out my favourits for this list, and even harder to have to remove the ones that there is no room for... I guess I will have to ad some "Bubblare" along the way...

So here it comes, Number 17 (drum roll please):

The Payboy Mansion - Pop

"Why?" you might say.. Well, just listen to the magnificent lyrics. It's up for debate what it means of course, but I would say it's a sarcastic view on Hollywood, where " beauty is true, and surgery the fountain of youth".

U2: Top 17 countdown.

We have been told of. We have been misbehaving... I know, and I appologise.

To compensate for this I have decided to make a U2 Top 17 countdown. And I will start right now.

But first, the rules: I will only pick songs from U2's 12 studio albums (studio recordings from Rattle and Hum are included). In this way, you will definitely be able to find them on Spotify.

This means: Nothing live, no B-sides and no covers.

However, there are some songs in these categories which are deffenitely noteworthy, so that is what this first post will be about.

Live: I have always loved any live version of Bad. This is a classical and amazing version. I love the "Ruby Tuesday/Sympathy for the devil"-snippets towards he end.

B-sides: Lady with the Spinning Head. This was a B-side from the Achtung Baby-era. And you can definitely hear that. It's worth a little bit of attention. It's not on Spotify, but I found it here on YouTube. It's a little bit too long though...

Covers: Unchained Melody. Amazing song, originaly by the Righteous Brothers. I think it's a very good cover, what do you think?

Everlasting Love. The first time I heard this, I was completely blown away. It has such energy! I had heard it before, or I recognised it at least. This is not very strange since it has been a hit for a whole league of different artists.

Both Unchained Melody and Everlasting Love is on Spotify, on "The best of 1980-1990/B-sides"

That's it for now. I'll start the real list soon... For now: listen to these songs and please comment! :)

Ja nu var det tid...

Ja då får man väl ta emot kritiken som kommit här... och nu när livet kanske ska få lite mer ordning så får vi sätta fart på det här igen...

Vi tar nya tag imorgon och då får det bli någon sorts lista.

Handball is back

Well i hope that the swedes that are reading this blog has spent the night watching our lovely and amazingly talented Handball team keep up a good game against a very very good Croatian team.

I remember the late 90's and early 2000's in the late glory days of our lovely group of players. When watching tonights game i came back to the feelings of that time. A time with wonderful hours infront of the game that has a special feel and cant be replicated.

I wish that this might be the start for a new golden era in the history of handball in this country and will bring alot of young players into this sport again.

Other reflections for the day...

School should not schedule their classes from 16.30 to 19.30

AIK is going to surprise everyone this season in allsvenskan

Sports are great.

The Blot

Ah, I see what you meen Markus. It might actually look like a "Rorschach inkblot". But nooo! It is in fact a Western blot. And it definitely has a much higher scientific value than the pseudoscience of the inkblots.

It might seem to all of you as if I only think about work, work, work. And yes, this week that is the case!

Good night everyone!

A day of...

Well a day of no school is a day of watching tv and eating...

I was of from school today and tried to take it easy and not think to much.

and now after finishing a great lasagna dinner with my roommate Brent, i am now gonna watch some tv.

Observations last Twentyfour hours:

Firstly
The Stig, the unknown driver from Top gear, has gotten his identity reveald... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/article5548705.ece
This is amazing and sad. Now who is gonna drive our cars to oblivion.

Secondly
What is that miriam!? I did not know that you worked in a "Rorschach inkblot" factory!

Continuation

I thought english would be a good choice of language...

I'm at work and have a lot of stuff I should get done, so I really shouldn't be blogging... Tomorrow I am going to have a seminar for my department, where I will talk about my research. I should really be more nervous than I am.

Well, anyway... Here is something I have produced at work today (if anyone happens to be remotely interested):

Unfourtunately I do not have more inspiration than this today. Maybe some other day :)
